Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup unsweetened chocolate, melted
- 1 cup Bailey's Irish Cream
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan with butter or cooking spray.
- Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, and baking soda. Mix well until all dry ingredients are evenly distributed.
- Step 3: In another bowl, whisk together the melted chocolate, Bailey's Irish Cream, softened butter, and eggs until smooth and well combined.
- Step 4: Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Step 5: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for about 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow it to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.
- Step 6: For the espresso cream cheese glaze, beat together 4 oz of cream cheese, 1 cup powdered sugar, and 2 tablespoons of brewed espresso until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled bread before serving.
Notes
- For optimal freshness, store any leftover Bailey's Chocolate Bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days, or refrigerate for a week.
- To enjoy the bread warm, simply pop slices in the microwave for 10-15 seconds or toast them lightly in a toaster oven for a delightful treat.
- This decadent bread pairs beautifully with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side, adding an extra layer of indulgence to your dessert experience.
- When mixing the wet and dry ingredients, be sure to fold gently to maintain a light texture—overmixing can lead to a denser bread that loses its deliciously airy quality.
