Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1 pound ground beef
- 8 slices of beef bacon, chopped
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a large casserole dish with cooking spray or a little oil.
- Step 2: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped turkey bacon until crispy. Remove the turkey bacon from the skillet and let it drain on paper towels, leaving some of the drippings in the pan.
- Step 3: In the same skillet, add the ground turkey and ground beef. Cook until browned and fully cooked through, breaking it up with a spatula as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
- Step 4: Stir in the diced onion, cooked rice, barbecue sauce, and half of the shredded cheddar cheese into the meat mixture. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Step 5: Transfer the meat mixture into the prepared casserole dish. Top with the remaining cheddar cheese and crispy beef bacon pieces. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Step 6: Let cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your cheesy barbecue turkey beef beef bacon chicken casserole!
Notes
- For optimal freshness, store any leftover casserole in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or freeze it for longer storage.
- When reheating, cover the casserole with foil to prevent it from drying out, and warm it in the oven at 350°F (175°C) until heated through, about 20 minutes.
- Serve your cheesy barbecue casserole with a side of coleslaw or a fresh green salad to balance the richness and add some crunch.
- For an extra flavor boost, consider adding a splash of apple cider vinegar to the barbecue sauce before mixing it in, which can enhance the tanginess of the dish.
