Ingredients
Scale
- 8 oz (225 g) pasta (such as fettuccine or penne)
- 1 lb (450 g) salmon fillet, skinless and boneless
- 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream
- 1/2 cup (50 g) grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Step 1: Cook the pasta according to package instructions in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving a little pasta water.
- Step 2: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Season the salmon fillet with salt and pepper, then add it to the skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side until cooked through and flaky. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- Step 3: In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Be careful not to burn it.
- Step 4: Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and combined, creating a creamy sauce. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
- Step 5: Flake the cooked salmon into bite-sized pieces and add it back to the skillet along with the drained pasta. Toss everything together, adding reserved pasta water a little at a time if needed to reach your desired sauce consistency.
- Step 6: Serve immediately, garnished with fresh parsley if desired. Enjoy your creamy salmon pasta!
Notes
- For optimal storage, keep any leftover creamy salmon pasta in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days, and remember to separate the sauce from the pasta if possible to maintain texture. When reheating, gently warm the pasta on the stovetop over low heat, adding a splash of water or cream to restore its creamy consistency without drying it out. For a delightful serving suggestion, top your dish with a sprinkle of lemon zest or a squeeze of fresh lemon juice to brighten the flavors and complement the salmon. A chef's tip: for added depth of flavor, consider incorporating sautéed spinach or sun-dried tomatoes into the creamy sauce for an extra layer of taste and nutrition.
