Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Step 1: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, chopped basil, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Step 2: Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Step 3: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and bake the meatballs for about 20 minutes or until they are cooked through and browned.
- Step 4: While the meatballs are baking, heat the marinara sauce in a large skillet over medium heat. Once it starts to simmer, reduce the heat to low.
- Step 5: Stir in the heavy cream into the marinara sauce until well blended. Once the meatballs are done baking, add them to the creamy tomato sauce and let them simmer together for an additional 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- For optimal freshness, store leftover creamy tomato basil meatballs in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or freeze them for longer storage. When reheating, gently warm the meatballs in a skillet over low heat, adding a splash of water or additional cream to keep the sauce from thickening too much. Serve these delightful meatballs over a bed of spaghetti or alongside crusty garlic bread for a comforting meal that everyone will love. For an extra burst of flavor, consider using freshly grated Parmesan cheese on top just before serving, and feel free to add more chopped basil for a fresh touch!
