Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/2 cup natural peanut butter (unsweetened and unsalted)
- 1 cup oat flour
- 1/4 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup honey (optional for sweetness)
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas and peanut butter, stirring until well blended.
- Step 3: Gradually add the oat flour, rolled oats, and cinnamon to the banana mixture, mixing until a dough forms. If using honey, add it at this stage.
- Step 4: Roll the dough into small logs or shape it into desired chew stick shapes and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Step 5: Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes or until the chew sticks are firm and lightly golden. Allow them to cool completely before serving to your dog.
Notes
- For optimal freshness, store the chew sticks in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week, or freeze them for longer storage. If your dog prefers a softer treat, you can briefly microwave a chew stick for a few seconds before serving, just make sure it’s cool enough for your pup to enjoy safely. Serve these delicious chew sticks as a fun training reward or an afternoon snack to keep your furry friend happy and engaged. For added flavor and nutrition, consider mixing in a tablespoon of flaxseed or chia seeds into the dough before shaping; it’s a great way to boost their omega-3 intake!
